The Joker and His Quinn

Summary: A Dark Knight version of the creation of Harley Quinn, influenced by the comic Mad Love, that takes place shortly after Joker & Harley have escaped Arkham.
He grabbed her neck with his left hand just tight enough to hear her gasping for air as the blade of the butterfly knife held in his right gently caressed the corner of her mouth. He smiled at her, his yellowed teeth barely showing under his crimson lips.
“My dear Harley,” he said in a sickly-sweet voice filled with his menacing affection for the blonde, “I can see the smile on your face, but the world can’t. Isn’t that sad?” Harley did her best to nod, her eyes holding a speck of fear hidden within the eager-to-please look a happy Golden Retriever would give its master. The Joker chuckled quietly, amused at seeing the slightest hint of fear in his one-time doctor who was so deeply devoted to him.
“Then let’s make your happy smile visible to the world.” With that, the blade dug into her make-up covered skin and began to carve a curving line up her cheek. Harley kept as still as she could while he made her Glasgow smile and every whimper of pain that escaped her was punished with a tighter grip on her neck. At last, the purple-and-green handle of the butterfly knife withdrew from her face and the violet leather gloves returned to their owner’s sides.
The Joker licked the blade clean; content that Harley’s gift knife was no longer a virgin now that her blood had stained it. Her cheeks were throbbing with sharp pain; she could feel the blood flowing from her cuts and taste the metallic crimson liquid trickling over her tongue; but she smiled.
Harley smiled and said in a weak voice, “Now we match, Mr. J,” which caused the Joker to grin widely and cackle. “That wasn’t so bad, was it?” he asked with kindly mock concern as he took out his handkerchief and dabbed at the excess blood before handing it to her. He then kissed her with a hard, fierce intensity, enjoying her submissive passion.
The Joker finally had his Quinn.

This was based on an RP I did one night with 
, who played a great Dark Knight-esque Joker. Harley's bubbliness was toned down a bit, her Brooklyn accent was taken away, and she didn't call Joker "Puddin'". This was done to make her a little more in tune with Chris Nolan's universe of Batman.
For anyone who wants to say that I stole

I never saw the art piece when I did the whole idea of Harley getting a Glasgow smile with Mathias (my pal
showed it to me today). That RP took place shortly after I saw the movie, and I'm sure I'm not the only person to get the same idea. It's a very freaky and funny coincidence, huh?
